day 4 – Long-lost friend

Standard

Long-lost Friend

I started when I was 10 years old. 9 years later, I quit as a sophomore in college after a punishing year in the OSU marching band practicing outdoors in the waning fall of the pacific northwest.

I loved the symphony more than ensembles or marching band, and I’ll pick it back up eventually. I still know all my scales, everything just comes out a half step out of tune.

day 2 – Finders keepers

Standard

Woah, free shoe!

By chance, this little guy found a free shoe, which is really just a pine needle in the shape of a bird’s foot, but use your imagination, will ya?

3 stops down from the max of f/1.8 on the 85mm prime gives excellent results.

day 1 – Fireworks

Standard

Clusters

The 3 and 6 second exposures in shutter priority mode were best, but the problem with fireworks is they end so fast you don’t get to try everything in one sitting. Next time I’ll try manual mode, manual focus with varying shutter speeds. Tip: it’s key to turn off auto-ISO and stick it at 100, I’d say.

day 0 – Rio up close

Standard

Predator

Alright, here we go. Day 0 of project 365.

Rio is my oldest cat, known for:

  • meowing repeatedly for no reason
  • over-eating until he barfs, then eating more
  • being incredibly soft
  • always finding his way onto your clean blankets
  • shamelessly begging for kitchen scraps

Part of my experiments with pav’s macro 105mm lens.
